Frequently Asked Questions
Got Questions? We’ve Got You.
Starting somewhere new can come with a few questions. From memberships and sessions to what to expect when you walk through the door, we’ve covered the things we’re asked most often below.
Is Empire Suitable for Beginners?
Yes, the classes at Empire Strength Co. are designed to accommodate any gym experience from someone at the very beginning of their health & fitness journey through to advanced. We pride ourselves on providing individual coaching within a group training environment as we know that one size does not fit all in regards to getting results & unlocking your full potential.
Is Empire a Female Only Gym?
No, Empire Strength Co. is open to both male and female participants.
How Often Should I Train at Empire?
Your training should suit your individual goals and lifestyle. That’s why we offer a range of memberships to accommodate your commitment level.
Do You Have Locked In Contracts?
We know that life is unpredictable and that circumstances can change, thats why we offer flexible memberships with no locked in contacts. Termination of a membership simply requires two weeks (14 days) notice via email as per membership TERM, CONDITIONS & PRIVACY POLICY
What is the Coach to Member Ratio?
Our classes are intentionally capped to ensure every member receives attentive, high-quality coaching. Limiting class numbers allows our coaches to provide individual feedback, technique guidance, movement modification and support throughout the session; rather than simply running the workout from the front of the room.
Class capacity may vary depending on the session format, available equipment and number of coaches on the floor, but maintaining a safe and supportive training environment is always our priority.
Does Empire have a Creche or Children’s Area?
While we don’t offer a supervised crèche, children are welcome to accompany you to selected sessions. Children can remain safely on the gym floor in a pram or capsule. We also have a designated children’s area available. Children remain under their parent or guardian’s supervision and responsibility at all times.
Can I Train if I have an Injury or Health Condition?
In many cases, yes. Our coaches can modify movements, loads and training intensity to help you participate safely and comfortably. Please let us know about any injuries, health conditions or relevant medical advice before your first session. Depending on your circumstances we may ask you to obtain clearance or specific recommendations from your doctor, physiotherapist or other treating health professional. Our coaches will always work within their professional scope, and you should never continue with an exercise that causes pain or feels unsafe.
Is Empire Suitable During Pregnancy or Postpartum?
In many cases, yes. Our coaches can adjust movements, loads and intensity to suit your stage of pregnancy or postpartum recovery. Before training, please obtain clearance from your doctor, midwife or relevant health professional and let our coaches know about any recommendations or restrictions. We also highly encourage consulting a women’s health physiotherapist for more individual guidance both during pregnancy and postpartum. Every pregnancy and recovery is different, so training will be based on how you feel; not on pressure to return to a previous level.
What Age Do You Need to be to Train at Empire?
The minimum age to participate in Empire classes is 15 years (and 18 for Open Gym Access) Anyone under 18 will require permission from a parent or guardian.
